  • are they already in .package format? If so, that's what goes in the mod folder & you don't need to open them.

  • heres a comprehensive step by step http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS4_CC_Basics
you need to extract the file with a .rar file opener its not different from unzipping you just need the right program i use winrar but the link will help
  • Why do you wan't do it? Ig they are package files, it is ok. Place them into the 'Mod' folder and it is done!
  • You install an extraction program either 7Zip (which I use) or Winrar, both are certified and safe programs. The files you need to extract are the ones with .rar, .zip files usually can just be opened or unzipped. Once you do that make sure you have the mods folder and they are appropriately placed.

  • You can't open them. Just cut from where they are downloaded which can be in the downloads folder and paste in the mod folder under the Sims 4 in documents and done.

    Everyone is a Simmer.
  • If it's a .zip fle then I suggest trying to open it depending on your computer if it will open, if it's a .rar file you need to download something like winrar to extract them, and if it's just packages you can move them over to your sims 4 mods folder (my documents, electronic arts, sims 4, mods) Hope this helped.

    In your Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3
You make your own folder label it 'Mods'
Then in the Mods folder you create a new folder and
name it 'Packages' then extract your cc into there!
I think that's what you were asking for :?
    Hope it helps!

Oh! I have to make my own folders for it? I guess I did not realize that. Wow, that confuses me as to why they were already there before when I installed custom content several months ago.. I will try that and see if it works. I appreciate your help. =] Thank you. ^^

    Glad to help,
If it's meshes you are downloading it will give you this
sort of resource.cfg or so file, which you just extract
straight to you The Sims 3 folder and those packages as I
said earlier into the The Sims 3/Mods/Packages folder!
The resource.cfg file only needs to be extracted there once
for all meshes but each download at peggy's or so gives you
a resource.cfg file in each download in case you don't already
    have 1.
(Sorry for the repeat that was just for others to
    understand it better)

I'm glad that there are members still ready to answer 'newbish' questions that have been addressed time and again before. So often do us non-computer savvy folks feel attacked and cast out when we ask legitimate questions only to be harped on and told that it is 'common knowledge' to most other folks.
I appreciate your readiness to be so kind in answering, Metalz!
I'm glad you found it helpful also, Kayleigh.
I really must learn to use the Search features of sites better. I have such trouble finding answers that are actually relevant to my specific question. So much irrelevant and non-related things come up in the Search results, it's insane trying to sift through them all to find a quick fix. Lol.
    Anyhow, thanks again! =D

EA does not support the use of mods in this game, so I can assure you they never would give you the mods folder, but you must have installed the framework yourself previously. I do know you could easily have done that a while back with the monkey installer, it made this folder for you - which is probably how you did it, and the installer would put the folder where it needed to go. But then the monkey installer began to have conflicts with the game, so simmers had to uninstall it as the game glitches and even crashes if you still have that program in your game. You can check by going to the Controll Panel of your pc and check under installed/remove software. If you still have that installer you need to uninstall it in there.
Also Delphy has made what she calls the Monkey Bars framework that you can use to make your own framework and it gives you the cfg.resource file you absolutely must have in order to see CC mods in your game. The resource files needs to be in the base game data files, but the mods/package folder needs to be in the folder data files of the ep or sp that you are using to start your game and to be able to see the CC. Because CC is mods in Sims 3, you need to make sure that CC has been updated to the latest game updates and match the games you have installed. So if you have WA, that CC needs to be updated to WA to prevent glitches and crashes.

My apologies, I thought that EA had promoted people making their own content for the game, as I have seen contests on the Sims 2 site and Sims 3 site over the years.
Anyhow though, I appreciate this helpful information! =D I seem to remember trying to use Monkey something or another a long time ago, but I couldn't figure it out. So perhaps that is how the folder got there before. You are probably right. =]
